ADC stands for an Assembly District Committee, which is a formal structure that exists within the County Committee at the Assembly District level.
It mimics the structure of the general County Committee by featuring elected officers, rules and bylaws, and opportunities for regular meetings, all in service of guiding the “general care and supervision of the affairs of the Democratic Party within such district.” Since the County Committee currently only holds one organizational meeting per year, ADC57 allows members of the Democratic party in the 57th Assembly District to participate more regularly in local politics. For example, the ADC is an opportunity to organize voter registration drives, hold candidate forums, gain an audience with our elected representatives, and hold party leadership accountable.
ADCs can also fill vacant County Committee seats and can play a role in filling vacancies in city, state, and national offices that include their district. Our goal is to make the work of the County Committee more accessible, genuine, and inclusive at the Assembly District level, so that neighbors can be politically engaged and form relationships with one another.
